Join our Creative Director Alice Stone on a tour of Lily and Lionel's HQ. The team of Mod Mods blog popped by our offices to see what inspires us and our collections.

"These butterflies are from a little market in Thailand,' explains Alice Stone founder and creative director of Lily and Lionel. 'I don’t go on specific research trips. But whenever I do travel, I always find myself irreverently doing research. I just got back from Sri Lanka and picked up lots of trinkets that caught my eye."

"I love these fashion illustrations that show all the different ways one can wear our scarves."

"This is a photo of my grandmother, my mother and aunty. It’s so sweet. It reminds me of why I started. I named the brand after my grandparents. My grandmother Lily was a dressmaker whilst my grandfather Lionel supplied materials to lots of glamorous boutiques in London so there's a strong history of textiles in my family.'This is a photo of my grandmother, my mother and aunty. "I have a really clean space that I use as my creative desk. I go there to get inspired and to clear my head from the clutter of e-mails. It’s a place to collect my thoughts, sketch and look through archive books."

"I wear a lot of white, grey and black leather. So rather than clashing prints I prefer to do a block of colour and then add a patterned scarf. I think everyone should try and wear more colour. In winter many people end up wearing the same big, black coat every single day. It's drizzly and everyone is feeling miserable so a little pop of colour can really lighten the mood."

"I light lots of Diptyque candles around the office and always have lots of vases of fresh flowers. They help to create a relaxed atmosphere. People often visit the showroom and remark that it's so happy. There is lots of natural light and white walls. It’s the perfect canvas because our scarves are so colourful."

"I started the brand from home in a teeny, tiny spare room. After six months I managed to get a tiny office, then a while later a slightly larger one, it felt quite corporate. Eventually I moved here and a friend of mine who is an interior designer helped transform it into what it is now. We’ve grown into it and I love it."
