THE FASHION RELAY: MILAN FASHION WEEK

Posted by Sabi in About Town with 0 comments

The time has come to say ‘Ciao, Milano’, as Fashion Week lands on the Continent.   Italy's most fashionable city doesn't do anything by halves, so expect colour, print and texture bursting out everywhere.

If you're heading to Milan, here are our tips for our favourite spots for sustenance, shopping and sleeping...

Don't get hangry

Nerino Dieci Trattoria is one of our favourite little finds in the heart of Milan. It feels like you’re walking into someone’s home, with welcoming staff and portions that are generous to say the very least. They do the best gluten-free spaghetti we've ever had.

Retail therapy is the way forward

We always make time to stop by Excelsior Milano. In the midst of Milan’s ornate Renaissance architecture, this department store stands tall, a pantheon to futuristic design. Just visiting the store is an experience in itself, but the designer offering is equally impressive: a considered edit of capsule collections is on offer across seven floors of sartorial wonderment.

Stay

Grab a room overlooking the Duomo in the Straf Hotel – it’s where all the painfully-cool people stay. Situated perfectly in the centre of the city, you can roll out of bed, slip on your Italian leather shoes and strut down the streets of Milano.

 Cultural Kicks

Don your Valentino gown and go see Don Quixote at La Scala. Tamara Rojo, English National Ballet’s Creative Director, will be a guest performer during exclusive shows over the course of Fashion Week.
