Once again it's that time of year: the start gun has sounded and the fashion relay has begun. This world's most sartorially gifted have descended on New York to see what the runways have to offer for the next season.

If you're in the Big Apple this week and have a spare moment, here are our tips for things to do, see and eat in the City.

Don't get hangry

If you believe that sharing is caring, then Balaboosta is the place to go for sustenance. Delicious Mediterranean/Middle Eastern dishes will keep you going as you dash from place to place. Their sister restaurant Taim offers the best falafel in the city: a perfect snack for when you're on the move.

Retail therapy is the way forward

Is it a cliché to say Barneys is our favourite place to shop? It's simply heaven. We adore their Co-op department and its incredible mix of designers big and small. Plus the layout makes it feel like a giant boudoir, making the whole experience dreamy.

citizenM offers the best of both worlds. You can depend on it for a no-fuss, easy stay in the heart of the city, but it still has a great vibe and buzzy atmosphere - just what you want when you're in the city that never sleeps.

Cultural Kicks

You have to visit the High Line. A public park has been built on an historic, disused freight rail line above the streets of Manhattan. You can stroll across a chunk of New York City completely surrounded by greenery, which is both surreal and invigorating after the rush of the city. They've also expanded it with several pit stops along the way offering fresh juices and sorbets.

If high-rise foliage is your scene, then check out Brooklyn Grange, a rooftop farm constructed on top of an old factory with unrivaled views of the Manhattan skyline. There's a cafe underneath that uses the produce from the farm. Where else can you enjoy a meal made from ingredients that have been harvested above your head?
